History

In honor of one of the oldest Roman noble families, descended from Iulus, son of Aeneas, the founder of Alba Longa, a city located in the current area of Castel Gandolfo, near Rome. It was Hostilius who, after the destruction of the city of Alba, welcomed this family to Rome. Their lineage in the line of Venus, mother of Aeneas, puts them among the fathers of the founders of Rome. This gave to them the access to the highest offices of the state in the First Republic. The tradition identifies the Iulia as probably the most important Roman family, boasting in his own line of descent Romulus, founder of Rome, and Gaius Julius Caesar the greatest Roman leader, who was able to give a decisive turn to the expansion of Rome. Caesar began the Julio-Claudian dynasty that from 27 BC 68 AD gave to Rome 5 Emperors: Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius and Nero.
